While gone, I bought a Turbo controller for my PS2, and Suikoden V. I'm now replaying the game after beating it, and to tell you all now - this is my favourite RPG of all time! ^___________________________^ Very nice, GKM. I started Suikoden V a year ago and played it for a total of 15 minutes. I think I stopped because I received .hack//G.U. Rebirth around the same time and wanted to get started on it. But I remember liking what little bit of it I played. Seems like it has a good story and a fun battle system.

Don't forget the 8+ endings it has! It's nice to have that, plus the new game plus system! ^^

Yeah bout how bout the game play? It plays sorta like Kingdom Hearts but without jumping. There's also this materia mixing system in the game.

Speaking of FFVII spin-offs, have any of you guys played DoC? I saw it for sale at Amazon earlier today and was wondering if it was worth getting. @gkm: Are you serious? Did the previous Suikoden games have that many endings as well?! That's like...unlimited playability! =D

DoC is a bad game unless you really really really like FFVII.

Lauren, I have no idea what the other Suikoden games have for ending, as I only have V. That's a great incentive for playing the game more, too, as you can get a lot of stuff but fall short of the mark and get a generic ending. Even if you get the lot of things to get the "true" ending, you have to make the right choice. If you make certain wrong choices during the game, you get one of five "bad" endings, which aren't supposed to be the way things end. I've yet to try them, as I was trying for the "true" ending, but now that I've done that, let's see what the "bad" ones look like! ^_^
Makes me wish to play Chrono Trigger for all it's 12 endings! ^_^

Suikoden II has multiple endings.

OK, so DoC is out. Thanks smallwind. You just saved me 20 bucks! Haha. =D
@gkm: Oh, I see. So the multiple endings thing kind of plays out like in Disgaea. Whereas there are multiple bad endings and then one true ending, correct?

The endings depends on the amount of characters you recruit, there's like 108 of them since the game is based somewhat on the Chinese novel Water Margin.

The "true ending" is based on the choice you make after you get the entire set of 108 people, and that's no easy task. You really need a walkthrough to get the lot of people, as some are totally unheard of on a normal run. I only got 60 or 70 on a normal no-walkthrough run (the first time I did it)...

Really? Yikes. Thank goodness for online walkthroughs. ^^; That's true! ;D I'd be lost in most games if I didn't have that wonderful online walkthrough! Hlaf the game guidebooks are incorrect as it is, so we need to check walkthroughs more often than not. But for those who never check the walkthroughs, my hat's off to you! ^_^

But for those who never check the walkthroughs, my hat's off to you! ^_^ If they don't check walkthroughs, then good for them! But I would imagine it would only lead to a really frustrated gamer. Especially when they need to find key items or are in need of a good battle strategy for defeating a really tough boss. ^^;

Yeah, but there are people who thrive on that kind of challenge. I do for collecting a rare sword on a JRPG, but if I can find it easier through a walkthrough, I'll give it a try! ^^
