I didn't even know a game like that was being released. The LE packaging looks beautiful.

I must admit my ignorance and say that I have never heard of this game. I'm with Lauren though in saying that the LE packaging is quite beautiful.

Yeah the DJ Max series usually have some stylish LEs. And about the game series, this is the second game to be released in the states (first one was DJ Max Portable Fever) the other games in the series were import only. The series is developed by Pentavision in South Korea. Gamplay vid of DJ Max Portable 3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaqN4x5JErMGameplay vid from the 2nd game and a glimpse of how crazy it can get: www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3ankkswG5s

Good lord! I thought the vid of portable 3 looked somewhat hard, but that vid from the 2nd game. Jeebus! How come someone move their fingers and eyes that fast?! Lol at the person who commented that it looked easy. I may just have to get this game and see how hard I can fail at it XD

Very nice, if I didn't suck in those types of games(much like Beatmania), I would have gotten the collector's edition of the first version because it's a similar package from my memory. How does the game compare to the Japanese counterpart? I ask this because it's like Guitar Hero/Rock Band and Guitarmania/Drummania and how they differ.

It plays kinda similar to Beatmania but not as fast pace and crazy. Funny thing about the DJ Max series is they got sued By Konami couple years ago.

Beatmania was pretty much the keyboard/DJ game from Konami around the time of DDR, like smallwind mentioned, DJ Max shares the same concept/gameplay except it's not as much keys. Aside from that, I would think that the characters also reflect upon being similar to Beatmania(not as popular seeing as Konami has released a number of 1/10 figures and 1 or 2 1/8 scale figures). It's much like Guitarmania vs Guitar Hero, aside from music, Guitar Hero has a sensor inside the guitar, two more buttons and a whammy bar. The reason why the "Mania" games were so popular because there's a group/band play syncing up Guitar, Drum and Beatmania arcade machines.
Music has to be completely different right? That's one thing about Konami's music games are that I only knew of quarter of the songs while the rest were unknown.

I remember seeing Beatmania in a couple of arcades before, but there was never anyone playing them. Though DDR being about 5 feet from on of them didn't help out much.
