Yeah, S is much better than the first series, imho. Haven't been watching anime much over the last few years. Been playing games more often than not... As long as you have something to keep you sane, right?

Going back somewhat old school, watching Air gear now. Pretty decent anime so far, because I'm usually not a sport genre fan and still I'm liking it.

Hey kids!!! It's time for an anime review! <---doing a poor binky the clown impression
Love, Election, Chocolate is a high school romance drama show about a club that has been threatened with closure if a candidate for student body president gets her way. In order to prevent this, the candy appreciation club (yup, there is a club that uses club funds to buy sweets including chocolate and try them out; gee, and they wonder why somebody wants to shut them down) decides to send one of their members to run for office. And this unique scenario nicely sets up the major plot--student elections. Like the way chocolate can be sweet and bitter, this anime show also alternates between the two states. You get a first taste of the dark aspect of the shown at the opening scene, which the show refers back to at a latter point. The presidential candidate is a popular man, and the show spends a few eps exploring his relationships w/ several club female club members. But unlike, say Infinite Stratos, LEC's protagonist picks the gal he loves. So the writers get credit for that. The character design is excellent, and the animation is gorgeous. The story has plenty of fun, romance, sadness, and intrigue. The ending is also good. Final grade: a surprising A. If Sentai ever releases a hyb, rather than subbed only, I will grab this title in blu ray.

I've been watching Tokyo Ravens lately on hulu. Very interesting take on an old anime genre.

Ebiten on Hulu. I caught the first ep last night, and totally regretted it. It's about a high school astronomy club that has been threatened with closure, partly due to the lack of members. Incredibly, a first year student shows up at the club room and wants to join. What happens? The club president tries to impose a number of obstacles, in the form of "tests," to prevent the new kid from joining! The story is poorly articulated, the characters, while interesting in some ways, are still not developed enough to hook my interest as a viewer. The result is an episode that fails to capture my interest. Tentative Grade: F. And I won't invest more of my time to watch and see if the show gets any better. Sorry.

Sorry. shixxx.... sound exactly like " Genshiken" Plot Summary: This is the story of college freshman Kanji Sasahara and his fellow members of the college club he joins, The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture (aka Genshiken), as he goes shopping for doujinshi, attends conventions and slowly but surely makes his way down the road to fandom. -animenewsnetwork

actually, genshiken is a celebration of otaku culture. It's quirky but educational. I've read the manga, and enjoyed it. Never had the time to watch the anime, even though I have both season. Ebiten seems to have no point whatsoever.

Just caught another arc for Attack on Titan on hulu. This is the kind of show that is annoying to watch as it airs, b/c the eps are so intense, and you wanna keep watching. lol Thankfully, it's available on hulu, which seems to stream better on my pc than crunchyroll. My next arc will be the one involving the female titan. Looks intense.

Earlier this week, I saw the first arc for Unbreakable Machine Doll on hulu. Very nice computer animation. Character designs are iffy/average. But the story/directing is quite good, in terms of how the background information is carefully fed to the viewership. Surprising twists and turns in the first arc. I think the anime is actually better than the manga. Tentative grade: B+

I got DBZ S1 used on blu ray, and watched a few eps. I think AoT is a lot more intense. not really comparable, imho.
