Hi all, I hate to butt in but I'm looking for an expert here as a new member. By the way my name is Matt. The subject is Super Sonico and my gut instinct says "knockoff" but I'm not sure. From what I can tell, this particular thread is one of the most active here so any help would be greatly appreciated. ImageSonico.bmp (351.61 KB) That is a picture of the particular figure I have found, but certain things are "telling" me it's just not quite right. One of the biggest being the black outfit in a box displaying the white outfit. There's a few other things also from research I've managed to find online. Still, I could be wrong. Matt hello and welcome  I have this figure somewhere..  this is a reprint figure (black swim wear) and was release back in Jan 2014 the original version w/ white swim wear was release back in Dec 2012 the box is questionable.. i have to check my box  this is a popular figure and if you want a authentic one... check out "amiami" pre-own figures (way cheaper then eBay & amazon) hope you stick around other spec Super Sonico Swim Wear Gravure Ver. Welcome aboard, Matt! There are actually two versions of this figure, one in black bikini (alternate) and the other in white bikini (original version). So the color alone is not an issue. One of the ways to tell if the figure is legit is to examine the box. Please compare yours to this picture from Hobby Search, one of the main Japanese sellers who sell overseas: www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10248613p/10/1Just based on a comparison with the image you posted, I could not tell the difference. Is there any other reason for you to suspect that your product is not legit? Where did you purchase your item from? I haven't bought it yet...The asking price is 50 dollars though. So I'm tempted. I have noticed during my research of this figure though when it comes to the box itself, that the "star" ( which seems to be the same pattern that should be on her display base ) behind the photo of Sonico on the box itself is often black. That seems to be the case when she is wearing the black bikini and in many of the photos I have seen, where she is wearing the white bikini and a box is with her, that box has the "faded" pink star like the box in this picture.
I am new to this particular hobby though, so there are things that I may be jumping to conclusions on.

By the way, since you are attempting to help me with this decision, I thought I would share my rather small collection at this point. I do have one more currently on the way. Another of the Meloncholy Bunny Girl series. I also have couple that currently have no room for the display as it is. There is a large arcrylic display case on order that is being made by a local plastic product maker that will sit flush on the lower shelf and then anchor to the wall. Collection.bmp (855.61 KB) As a hobbyist, nothing can be more more annoying than dusting and then breaking fragile parts. I've been dealing with that for years and years as a model builder and collector of many other things. |
