Well...I decided to use the AmiAmi site for the first time. We'll see how this goes. Put in two orders. The first, a "new" used figure. Had to get the Ryouko Asakura bunny girl version to help me complete the set of Haruhi bunny girls in 1/4 scale. The second, I went ahead and pre-ordered the Super Pochaco Beer Girl. Now with the Ebay security breach, and having to go ahead and reset all my passwords, I figure now is as good a time as any to try their site. Especially with the cost of the Ryouko figure on Ebay as it tends to go. i'm currently having Credit Card issue w/ their payment option.. did u have any problem? hate to use paypal..

re: Amiami used section. You have to pay attention to the two letter grades. Sometimes, they buy from a non-distributor (thus it is "pre-owned") but never opened. Those get assigned "A" in the first grade (condition of the figure itself), and are exactly what you get brand new. If you see a "C," then it is either damaged or missing something; you should stay away from those! A "B" grade means that the figure has been opened, may have some minor flaws (i.e. a mark), but still okay. Most of my purchases are either "A" or "B" grade. The "A" rated items usually cost more.
The second grade refers to the outer box. Personally I don't care as much about the outer box. So even a "C" is okay for me.

Finalgear, to answer your question. I used PayPal. I don't use credit cards excpet in extreme emergencies. Short story reason for that....I was married. Emphasize WAS. During that marriage of almost 17 years, my ex ran up a debt of roughly $10,000 three separate times on two different cards. The second time it occured I had to sell my car that I had bought as a long term keeper...it was to be my future "57" Chevy so to speak. I had just paid it off 4 months prior to that. She then ran it up again to about $10,000 grand. I agreed to take that debt in the divorce. It took me 2 1/2 years to pay it off and I ditched that card. I have one credit card and one only. It stays locked up and is only brought out if I travel somewhere out of my local region. I've never used it once.
Nuts, I bought an A/B condition figure. When I first registered there I was scanning through the preowned section and read very carefully the grading system. I'm glad they have it. It's a good concept. The figure is ofcourse the most important thing. I do like having the box though and so having one in decent shape is good...I don't need perfect though.

Hobbycentric, don’t worry it’s not a Credit Card.. it’s just a debit card.. I don’t have any credit cards except one, which the master (wife)... never lets me use. However, these sites.. don’t seem to like debit cards. I was able to process my order using PayPal (don’t like using them). -$10k.. I can relate.. my master and I, our wedding gifts was little over $10k cash collected. SHE jerked it all OFF in 2 months vs... using it to pay-off debt.... to this day.. I'm still steam-off about it

Didn't expect it, but appreciated nonetheless. I think you just married the wrong person. It happens. Giving up your car was a big ouchie there. >< I think you should use your credit card anyway, like make one small purchase every few months. Otherwise, the company may just close your account due to inactivity (assuming that they haven't already done so). It saves the hassle of applying for a new card if you need one later on. An A/B condition figure is an excellent compromise. Basically it's brand new, with maybe a bent or worn corner or two. Wouldn't worry too much about that.

Re: paypal. They charge like 3% in currency exchange. Not BS. All financial institutions (banks/etc.) charge a fee like that. I think your credit card flagged the transaction because it is w/ an overseas seller. When I used my CC at CDJapan, the company sent a robotic call to confirm this transaction. If you don't do so, it won't go through. Yeah, ebay was breached like in Feb/March, and they just found out about it. I had been getting spoof emails confirming payment from paypal, so I figured something was up. Basically, the senders are trying to trick you (who obviously won't recognize the payment being allegedly made) into clicking on their fake link and entering your login info for your paypal account. Getting your ebay account is fine and dandy, but paypal is where the money is. Hacking into ebay is like breaking into a house. You still need to crack open the safe that is paypal. So hopefully, your paypal and ebay passwords are DIFFERENT. If not, change your paypal password ASAP.

Quick update...still wating at this point although it has shipped. That much I do know since I received a notification a few days back. I don't know how to use their tracking system though. I'm pretty patient though. You get patient when you've served in the armed forces though..."hurry up and wait". it's not just a motto, it is a way of life while in that style of job.

What method did you request for shipping? EMS (fastest) takes about a week, depending on U.S. customs. SAL could take 4 weeks. If you have a tracking number, simply go to post office website: www.usps.com/At the upper right corner, there is this light gray box where you input your tracking number and hit on the search icon next to it. If the number is in the system (sometimes takes a few days), the page will tell you the current status of your package. I believe they give you the last six scans for the number (when package is accepted, left the country, arrive in recipient country, customs, sorting, delivery, etc.).

Yep, I used EMS. It was sitting at the door when I got home from work yesterday as a matter of fact. Beautiful figure. I was concerned at first when I first got the box pulled out of the shipping package. There was something ratteling around in there. It was that "oh crap" feeling going on there. Turned out to be no big deal though. A small section of the two halves of the plastic the that figure sits in had broken off and was sliding around.
Heck of a lot better than using Ebay. Much lower price overall to say the least.

Your transaction will be flagged if the seller is overseas. that's another reason why people prefer to buy on ebay; paypal makes it easier for buyers by removing this hassle.
