Well, I now have a new camera, as of today! ^_^
Shall I tell you why I got a new camera? Yes? ^_^
Okay! The thing is, I got that wonderful Louise ~Little Devil Ver.~ from HLJ today, but as I started to take photos with my old Fujifilm FinePix A350, it just started playing up! At first it was just that it wouldn't focus, and then after a little bump to get it going (like with anything that sems to play up), it just broke the zoom lens. Needless to say, I was a little frustrated. I had almost finished taking all the photos of Louise when it happened, but now I couldn't finish up!
So, I needed a new camera.
I checked the catalogues for a new one, and I noticed there was an AUD$99 one on sale at a store called Retravision, in my hometown, so I got in the car and went there.
I got there, but the camera I wanted wasn't there anymore, as they'd sold them all. So, I checked the others, and found one that I liked the look of - a Vivitar ViviCam 5188. This camera has an underwater housing unit to take underwtaer shot, so that seemed interesting. It retailed at AUD$139, but because the guy there knew me, he was willing to let it go at $125. At the same time, he showed me a Canon PowerShot A460, but I didn't want another zoom-lens camera, after the fiasco with the Fuji one, so I bought the Vivitar one along with a 1GB SD memory card.
So, I took it home...
...and the camera wouldn't focus! I tried and tried to get it to take a nice, clear shot of the Louise, and even my Yurie, but it just wouldn't play dice.
So, back to the store, to see what they could do.
Once there, they checked it out, but because they didn't have a spare card to work with, and mine was here at home, they just gave me the cabinet model of the same camera and I took it home to try that one out.
The same deal!!!! O______________________________O
So, I took it back again and also the card to show them what the problem was.
What proceeded to happen was one hell of a circus and run-around. Customers entering every few minutes, I couldn't get a word in other than to show the guy who served me and the boss what was what. The other customers took the attention of the boss away, but not before he said to phone a woman up who knew about these things. The attendant rang the woman, but she wasn't in, so he left a message. The boss had a second, so he told the other guy to ring the Ricoh people (the guys who run the Vivitar company), but they didn't take care of the problems, Tasco do.
Waiting, waiting...
About ten to fifteen minutes later, the woman first called rings back. She then talks to me, but can't recommend anything due to the nature of the problem - they should be clear when taking photos.
So, they call the other store in nearby Taree, and they say that it's not possible, but the refund won't get the guys' money from ordering said cameras back, so they bummed around before offering the Canon PowerShot A460 to me, but for five dollars more than the refund of the other camera. We put in the SD card of mine into the Canon camera, and the attendant starts to take a few photos of things, from the shop to macro shots of stuff.
And boy!!!! What a camera! ^_____^
The shots were so clean and clear - much better than the Fuji camera, so I purchased it! ^_^

Those of you who've checked out the figure thread of mine have already seen the product of the camera, but here's a few test shots I took...
Macro shot of Yurie figure:
Super Macro shots of Yurie and friends:
Lastly, regular shots of the yard outside my house, and our dog Polly:
Well, I love this camera, and the D-SLR I was planning to buy can wait, if not indefinitely! ^_^
