I'm trying to remember...I received the frames as a birthday present so I don't know the exact details of how they were done, but I'm pretty sure the cels were taken to a local art store where they were custom framed and matted. I can post pics if you want to see how they look, just to give you an idea.

The two cels are framed with a thick layer of plexiglass and acid-free mattes (Sorry about the photo quality - I had to take the picture from an angle, haha.). My cels aren't really the greatest but I think those close-up shots you have of that one red-headed character would look really nice framed and hung on your wall.

waoh, they look awesome! way better then I imagined, and I thought the frame layer would make the cel look bad but this in fact looks luxurious

I'll be looking for this at my local and see if anybody can do this, when you got this as gift..uh how did they know what size the cel is? they have to know how it'll fit the cel perfectly before ordering them as a gift right?

and yeah, but I'm thinking about getting some better cels thats got more meaning to it, like the op(one of them is but I had to review the video 5 times before even seeing it lol) or a important moment. I'll prably hang them over bed so I can wake up happy in the morning lol

I wish theres a ending credit cel of nadesico for sell somewhere, that's be amazingly awesome ..and then I always wanted to get a over size pan cel and frame it, that'd be sooo badass!!

Hehe, thanks. As for how they fit the frames...to be honest, I really don't know. They probably measured the cel by itself and then cut the mattes to fit around it in the frame. That's just a guess, though - I have no idea how the framing process works. ^_^;

Wow...an ED cel from Nadesico is probably super expensive. ; A shame that OP/ED cel prices are so high - those are some of the best images to frame! I only managed to snag two OP cels during my cel collecting days. I bought an opening cel from the Shamanic Princess OAV and I also snagged one from Slayers TRY. They're not the greatest, but they were the cheapest prices I could find.

They measure the right size and get the right size mattes or alter them to fit. You never want
to alter the cel to do that, as the value of it drops significantly....

Just need to get the right size frame and matte for my Penny Gadget cel!

oh what, of course never alter the cel, that's like cutting the legs of a figure to fit it into detolf lol

I imagine a nadesico ending cel would be mad price, but the thing is that I never ever seen one for sell ever..think theres only 5 or 6 cels for the ending total since each piece takes up 10 seconds on the ending and the ending was only like a minute long.

well nowadays cel prices are dropping like crazy compared to years ago, and more and more people are getting out of the collection since their collection spans are running out(usually between 5 to 10 years I think) so almost any cel is obtainable be it op or ed,except, Kikyo cel(inuyasha)!! I saw this cel site selling a half decent normal size one for 130000yen and another kinda crappy one is on yja right now for 50000yen..one day, one of those day..

@ Lee - Reminds me of all those Belldandy cels floating around. Have you seen the prices for just a PROFILE shot of her? It's like $500.00! It's just insane. And all the cel prices look the same to me as they did 10 years ago. CCS prices are still through the roof. lol I remember paying $50 for a Suppi cel. How ridiculous. XD;;

en, theres always sellers trying to sell them for high prices, theres online site selling a profile of belldandy for 2800$..500 for a good shot of her I guess its reasonable even nowadays lol then again nowadays with that kinda price the cels just not gonna go anywhere..

I've not checked CCS cels, but over at anime-beta owners are taking up lower and lower offers, many cels they get offers of 1/2 originial price or less, I'm just waiting for some good collectors to drop out anime cel collecting is pretty different than figure, mainly the cost and cel price inflation I think..

very nice collection lauren, can tell you've been collecting for years! I also have a rubberslug account but its just never update since its created, and since I don't have a scanner that won't damage cel, maybe I'll just take photos on all of them instead lol

$2,800 for one Belldandy cel is absolutely ridiculous. She can't still be that popular after all these years, can she? geez, talk about longivity. ^_^; And yeah, it's a shame nobody's ever going to pay those kinds of prices. A cel retailer I got most of my cels from is still selling the same cels he was 10 years ago.

Hey good luck with that, Lee. Hopefully you'll get dibs on the cels you want before anybody else. Yeah - collecting cels is a different beast altogether. I mean, once a cel is gone, it's gone forever. There are no reissues. T^T

Oh, thanks. =D Ah, didn't know you had a Rubberslug account, guess I should've figured you would have one. lol Photos are a good idea - I remember having to scan my cels for that site - I had to be extremely careful that nothing got crushed and/or folded over under the scanner.

I lost track of all the ah my goddess series, way too many..the ones I know are that movie and that 6ep ova, and also I don't even know how many normal series are out there. I really don't mind getting a good front face shot of her from the movie tho. and I wanna re-watch it now, last time I watched it is prably the time I was into pokemon(and I was bored to death by the plot lol) I'm sure now it'll be a totally different feeling, but even then it was like OMG, I can sense the epicness(didn't understand the plot one bit)!

yeah, I'll have to save up..and not with the way I'm saving up right now either..exactly the point I failed to point out that, cels ARE once of a kind. and that's why I visit anime-beta 3 times a day and pray that those collectors whom I has crushes on their cels will finally open their gallery up for low ball offers lol

when I first discovered rubberslug I spent 3 days going through their entire community to search for a dream cel. along the way tho I noticed that just about 100% of them use scanners for their cels..if I do photo I'll prably be one out of 500 in that group thats doing things differently, wonder if I'll get threat messages..with the way I spent all my money however, theres no way I can pull off a 100$ scanner either, in the end photo will be my best bet

Well, as to doing crazy things to the cels.....

People in Japan used to steal from the warehouses and things and then later people would find extremely rare and precious cels.
The thing is, they would be chopped up or stapled on the walls - right in the center of the faces on the cels!
The value of course was useless even though many of these were one-of-a-kind pieces that would
have made millions per cel. Oh well, what are you gonna do? (shooting is an option)....


And yeah, good luck on framing my Penny cel. ^^;

It's not just an exaggeration, either. I didn't make that story up. Either way, they were crazy back in the 80's...
They tend to not do that anymore...but then they keep cels under tight wraps.
