Hi guys
I didn't know where to post this, oddly there doesn't seem to be many figure forums around.
But i recently got a figure in new condition, it has some minor imperfections on it and what looks like a small impression on part of the hair. There are also 2 peg holes on the figure to hold it on the stand, but the pegs won't fit into the holes.
Anyone got any advice? It's annoying to buy something new only to be bugged by imperfections like this, they really shouldn't have any at all. I did contact the company who made the figure so i'm awaiting a reply from them.

Hi Welshjester, welcome aboard. I'm fairly new to collecting figures and so I have been learning the "ins and outs" from a few of the folks on here such as avoid E-Bay due to the ease of getting counterfeit figures. That's by no means what I am saying has happened to you in this case ofcourse. Is there any way you can share some photos of it and the specific problems you are describing? I opened a photobucket account ( as one of the others suggested ) so I could share photos of my figures as I have gotten them. It is free and it is easy to do. Once you've uploaded pics to the account you can then copy the "share" link for display on a forum such as this. The link automatically converts it to picture format in the forum. For example; or this; or this; You get the idea. It really helps in sharing with each other and especially when deciding to buy or not buy a specific figure if someone else has already done so and can critique it.

Hi, thanks. Here's a couple of images, i didn't really take them in the right lighting so they could've been better but it will do. Don't know if i'm being too picky or not, but really they should be in perfect condition and have no flaws. The particular company who made this figure i believe is well known for their high quality from what i have read elsewhere. Also i am pretty certain it is a genuine figure.

No, you aren't being too picky if you bought a brand new figure that has never been previously owned. It shouldn't have any obvious defects. At least in my personal opinion.
The small depression in the hair looks like either a defect in the mold or something had gotten in the mold. I can't easily tell what's going on with her shoe there, but I'm assuming something similar is also there on the very edge?
As to not fitting on the peg or pegs(?)...Is there more than one actual peg for her to fit onto? If it's a matter of more than one, then is it that they are too widly spaced for her feet to fit on them? Or are they simply to big to go in the matching holes in the figure itself? A couple of my smaller figures do have some very tight tolerances on the pegs. One of them ( I forget which ) has a peg that slides in from below the base and seems to forcefully lock itself into the shoe of the figure. To get her off the base you have to pull the peg back out from below.
Other than that, what is the manufacturer brand of the figure? Some of the others here will probably chime in and they have far more experience than me on the subject. They probably will be able to tell you about what some manufacturers do compared to others.

I have that one, and the pegs are for her hair, not her feet. The hair should fit fine if you put them into the pegs the right way. As for the defects, I have no idea - mine never had these. Of course I have since taken the top off and voided any previous rights to saying mine is in its original condition, but it still didn't have any of these problems with it...

The figure was made by Max Factory/Goodsmile company. I already sent a message to Goodsmile but have yet to hear from them in nearly 2 days now. The person i bought it from is an Amazon seller from Japan, he had it for a good price. I also contacted him and he offered me a full refund if i send it back, or a partial refund if i keep it. I noticed someone else who has the same figure also has an issue with the hair, in the same spot as mine as well > myfigurecollection.net/picture/1035528&ref=item%3A53I also know this guy in the UK who's a sculptor, i asked his opinion and he thinks i should take the partial refund and keep the figure because the damage is minimal, maybe it's possible he can fix the issues for me, i'll wait to see what he says.

Hello welshjester and welcome to forum ^_^
Regarding your figure.. honesty, if it was mine.. i wouldn't make a big deal, that defect is actually do-able. Keep in mind that these figures are not individually hand crafted. Just wait til you get a knock-off......

I've had figures with broken pieces, and just had my dad glue the bits back together...it really doesn't matter in the long run, as long as the over-all feel of the figure isn't ruined - and to me the damage looks minimal at the worst...

Welcome to the forum! Re: the indentation in the hair. I think it's an issue with the mold, maybe an extraneous material that got stuck to the mold and not properly cleaned out. Occasionally, you will come across figures where the pegs don't fit properly. It's a reflection on the manufacturer. If the seller is willing to offer a partial refund, I too would recommend accepting that instead of returning the item. The defect is not the fault of the seller, but he's willing to compensate for a less than perfect product and I think that was the right thing to do in this case.

Thanks guys, yeah i think i will take the partial refund too. I did get a reply from goodsmile. They said because it's a figure no longer being made and old that i'd be out of luck anyway. They also had this to say "Hello. Thank you very much for contacting us again. We do NOT think that somebady can fix your minor defects. If someone try to do something for your issues, we think your figure would have more damages since your product is very old. However, that is our opinion. It is totally up to you. Regards, Good Smile Company Customer Support" There's another figure i'm interested in as well -> nendogamer.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/0013.jpg but from reviews i've seen it looks like these also have some issues. Is it all mainly luck? Seems like the overall quality varies a little no matter what figure is bought.

I have that figure of Fate, and there's zero issues to be had with her. the little triangle thing in her mouth was a bit hard to put there, but it's still there even after all this time on mine.
Funny, as I was toying with either selling her or giving her to my niece...
