$685...wow. Lee, are you involved in some kind of illegal activity? Where do you keep getting all this money from? lol Anyway, it's a very lovely cel. Actually, probably one of the nicest I've ever seen. You make sure you treasure and preserve that Kikyo cel as best you can!

Hopefully you won't ever reach that point in your life. ^_^;
Actually, I'm kind of surprised at the value of cels nowadays. I don't know if it's because the traditional cel technique was abandoned thus making them more valuable, but it does seem like cel prices and climbing higher with each passing year. I mean, a CCS could set you back anywhere between $30-$80 about 10 years ago. Now it seems a person is highly unlikely to find a cel for under $100. I mean, just a random cel of Sakura smiling is super expensive. :/

@lauren, really is that true? well that's wired, and I thought for sure cel prices are dropping especially with this crappy econ all over the world. guess that's not the case and theres always hardcore people out there. still I see future cel collection being moved more to sketches since people would have no idea about all those old cel chars anymore, unless there are a bunch of old geezers that are still interested in anime art lol well I know for certain that some of my favor anime cel's cel prices dropped compared to 2-3 or 4 years ago and I believe every cel's price will go down eventually when people gets tired of collecting from that series.
@gabriel, ah haha, good to see your comment here ;D true I guess, but until now I still don't like dollfies That Much lol otherwise with all the money I spent on my resin kits I'd be able to get a bunch..tho in the long run dollfies would be more valuable since they have a set price tag and with resin it all depends on who did the construction and paint job..

I just ran over to eBay real quick to check a few prices on the CCS cels. It seems the quality cels are ranging from $150-200. And the cels of side characters no one ever wants (har har) are starting around $35-40. And I think cels can only go up in value. At least the ones from high quality series like CCS and Escaflowne. I don't think anyone's going to want a cel from a show like Gokudo or Maze in 10 years. Though I am guilty of owning a few Maze cels. ^_^;. I mean, as a collector, what would you rather have: a boring old genga or a nice vibrant production cel? Prices should be going up thanks to that kind of logic~ Rilezu cels on the other hand.... ;D With that sort of money you could have bought... A MINI DOLLFIE DREAM! XD Don't give him any ideas. ^^;;

eh, yeah, I'd much rather a cel over sketches, but I wouldn't say old about all genga, since for all the new animes there are only genga and douga and no cel. therefore sketches are the only option. and I don't like rilezu either, it just doesn't have value since its not used in the anime. and I guess all the best animes will stay popular for years and years to come while those other animes of same age gradually decrease in value over time.
and well, I don't mind the dollfie eyes in fact I think there very beautiful, but I just can't stand ball joints..and the word "doll" doesn't register in my mind as collectible to a manly(discriminating against girly collectibles) collector like me lol

Trust me, the ball joints (in fact, they're not even balls - they're ball shaped hinge-joints XD) become part of their uniqueness, and part of their features.
If you were to adopt one, you'd understand lol I mean look at me - only a few months ago I shared your opinion, and even created a topic asking about them! And then here I am now with four (soon to be five!) lovely daughters ^^ (You can call them daughters and not 'doll'fies if you prefer XD).
They're just like bigger, beautiful action figures with endless customisable options!
And I ask you, who doesn't like customisation? WHO I ASK? WHOOO!??!!?!? *shakes lee by the shoulders* :3

I see what's going on here so clearly. Gabriel has obviously lost his mind. I don't like rilezu either, it just doesn't have value since its not used in the anime. and I guess all the best animes will stay popular for years and years to come while those other animes of same age gradually decrease in value over time. This I very much agree with. However, the fact that Rilezu prices hit $200-$300 a piece seems like backwards logic to me. Especially since, like you said, they aren't actual cels used in the making of a show. Do you know if they're mass produced? I read somewhere that some rilezu come with the original douga, so I don't know if that makes them one of a kind.

lol you guys XD
yeah, for some reason rilezu companies usually charges around this amount for producing a piece of cel, and around double of it for oversize pan, I'm not exactly sure how it works but carious if you can just sent them a screen cap and they'll make that piece for you, that would be pretty amazing, too bad many series are not licensed out to those rilezu companies..otherwise I'd get a piece of school days chicks going yandere at eachother and frame right over my bad so I can wake up with a big smile every morning lol and I also wonder how much does it cost for them to produce a rilezu. anyways, at the very least some companies only make every screen shot once, so if its sold out then its gone forever, unlike those mass produced hanken, now those are truly outrages!
I heard something about some companies have a mix of original douga and reproduced sketches for the rilezus they make, since they don't have every single piece of douga that made the anime. I suppose in that case the ones that comes with the original douga would be worth a lot more, especially those epic scenes.
