Eh, wow. That's really quite strange for a manga from a prominent artist like Akamatsu to have such a thing happen. Normally it's a the anime adaptations that have those rushed endings. Very unusual.
Again, what a bizarre situation. Wonder if he's going to start work on a new project before he goes back to the Negima series? I sure hope it's the latter, especially for you and the rest of his fans.

The more I think about it, the more I'm beginning to believe that he made the ending the way it was due to his issues with leaving his publisher. I'm thinking he had to do some sort of ending to go along with his departure so that he could take the rights to the series with him along with his other finished works. That way he has the ability to return to it down the road and give it the ending he wanted to. At least I hope there's some truth in that theory. I refuse to believe that Akamatsu wanted to end a series he spent 9 years working on that way.

Well, I just finished reading the final volume of Negima (I can't believe how long this manga actually ran). I'm not going to give any spoilers for it, but I will say that while, as a whole, I love the world and the characters in it, the ending was quite possibly the most rushed, unsatisfying ending I've ever read. I honestly feel like I've just wasted a large amount of time now, and that saddens me very much because I've always been a pretty big fan of Ken Akamatsu's works. The best way I can sum it up is that this feels like the manga version of a huge internet troll. Wow...just, really. I'm also a fan of his works. I had to drop Negima after about a dozen issues, b/c I saw that it was going to be a long running series, and I just didn't have room. I hope that KA will be up and at it again w/ this series, and give the ending that will satisfy the faithful fans who followed this series.

I had dropped it for quite some time (around volume 18), but restarted from the beginning a few weeks ago and read through while ordering the remaining volumes so I could just go through it straight. I'm there with you, Antony, in hoping that he picks this back up and gives it the ending that it should have. As I said earlier, 9 years of work deserves much better than what it got.

I'm getting ready to start over from the beginning with Dance in the Vampire Bund after I read Venus vs. Virus. I made it to volume 8 of Bund before, but it went on the back burner when other stuff was coming out faster than the other volumes of Bund were. Now that I have the entire series collected, I'm ready to do a straight read through of it.

I picked up the first volumes of Sankarea and Haganai at Books a Million the other day (first time I've bought manga at a brick and mortar store in ages). I'm also caught up currently on the manga for Freezing, which has gone completely insane currently. I restarted on the 6 volumes of Blood Alone that are currently available right now. I REALLY hope the Kodansha starts releasing the rest of this now that they own the rights. Blood Alone is really a highlight in story telling that deserves so extra lovin on this side of the ocean.

I have the first omnibus (1-3) for Blood Alone. It's a really cute series.

I have the first omnibus (1-3) for Blood Alone. It's a really cute series. Definitely one of the better stories in recent years. That much is for certain from what I've read of it.

Well I've caught up to where the translations currently end for Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. I hope the last 2 chapters are available soon. I'm dying to see how this ends. I'm now reading Mysterious Girlfriend X. I must say, as good as the anime was, the manga so far is a thousand times better.

I bought the original Dark Horse comic book releases when I was in school. And then shifted over to the trade paperbacks. Had to quit when the series seems like it'lll never end. And speaking of BoI: www.flickr.com/photos/97583892@N04/9129701573/

I've caught up on Mysterious Girlfriend X and I must say, I'm loving how Tsubaki and Urabe's relationship is progressing in the manga. For the weird "bond" they both share, they really are the typical high school couple that progress in a way that just feels natural. It's funny, lighthearted, and enjoyable to read.
I bought the 1st volumes of Blood Lad and Blue Exorcist to give them each a try.
