I know this section is for anime, but I've recently noticed that there is no thread at all for any of us to talk about what manga we may happen to be reading at the time, so I wanted to start this and see what manga series everyone else is enjoying right now. Currently, I'm reading through Future Diary. I'm also up to season II of Rosario + Vampire, and I'm starting Black Lagoon over from the start since I lost track of where I was Now it's everyone else's turn. Let me know what you're reading.

Oh~ Fresh new topic. Of the manga I'm currently reading: * Cheeky Angel - I'm almost to the end of this one. I just need to pick up vol. 16 thru 20. * Ghost Hunt - Up to vol. 9. * Kimi ni Todoke - Read up to vol. 4 - waiting for the 5th volume to be released. I was also reading Kamisama Hajimemash ita (ugh, swear filter) until it became licensed. I can wait, though. Supposedly it's getting a release in November.

Talking about Blood Alone has made me want to read through it again as well. I also forgot to mention that I'm waiting for the next volume of Dance in the Vampire Bund to come out. Also waiting for Del-ray to maybe bring out volume 8 of Princess Resurrection.

I am so delayed in my Manga buy list at the moment, sadly to say, I've only updated myself to Rappi Rangai aka Ninja Girls online. Basically which series I should be reading are all of what you see here if it's incomplete.Pay no attention to Battle Vixens/Ikkitousen...thinking it was TokyoPop, at least they would get the translations straight, the last two recent volumes I have on my shelf haven't been read because of the incoherent crap every single character spews out then there's those single Romance of the Three Kingdom Hero background which is supposed to give you a general idea of the characters(which doesn't!)... No I do not have number dyslexia, my friends come over often and browse my manga and randomly put them back so the numbers don't add up lol~ Not a good selection but mainly due to initial interest... Blood Alone is seriously a very nice read! **** gets serious during Volume 3 or does start taking a focus into the main plot.

Keep reading Dance in the Vampire Bund. I've enjoyed it very well so far (up to and waiting for volume 8). I haven't read any of Gantz, but I hear it's pretty good.
I haven't tried reading any of Ikkitousen because of what I've heard about it's translation. Tokyopop didn't censor any of the art, but I've heard and read from numerous sources that they completely butchered the translation of it by adding needless urban slang and the like. Tell me if that's true or not though, cause I have no for sure knowledge of it seeing as how I haven't opened up a volume and read it yet.

That is in fact true, perhaps at the point back in the day when I started ordering it was because Tokyo Pop didn't censor the series but I didn't get to the bad translation before ordering it. I believe I have up to volume 10 or 11 but didn't read the last two volumes because of the constant derailing of the translations.
I can definitely say if you read volume one, you'll get the jist of the story but there's an obvious feeling that you know what's being translated isn't what they're truly saying...especially the slang and the "names" they give each other.....To a point, it's worse than CMX's censorship with Tenjo Tenge, visually you'll be missing out on what's originally there but what's the point of reading a manga is the translations aren't even right.
Completed series enjoyed: Junk - A good take from a Japanese author(whos done a Batman arc as well) on Super Heroes in Japan(much like Tokutatsu), in the end, it's really the same message as Spiderman. With great power comes great responsibility and the fact the Prototype items are inferior to Mass Production was WIN! Tsukihime - It's complete but I just haven't bought the last 2 or 3 volumes, just love the story and art(just like the game). Dance in the Vampire Bund - Haven't watched the anime but the Manga is good as you mentioned. Air Gear - Much like many of Oh! Great!'s creation, fantastic start but story sorta derails off the original intention(**** gets serious to the point of I can't remember the original theme). Genshiken - Great read, must have for any anime and manga fan out there! Kamiyadori - Interesting...story falls flat being only a prequel to another series. King of Thorn - I liked this one a lot, very suspenseful to the very end. FMP - Many already know about this, if you like action, mecha and comedy, please check it out.
That's about it off the top of my head at the moment, I made a mistake with Fate/Stay Night...I thought it would be like Tsukihime being done from the original artists and all but it's like the Melty Blood Manga, follows the story but the art is so different that it's hard to adjust. From where I left off on Gantz, I still dunno what's going on lol~
Oh yeah, I strongly recommend people to get Azumanga Daioh: The Omnibus. It's pretty much the entire 4koma in one HUEG format!!

I really wish that US publishers would release manga a little quicker because I don't really have the spare time to learn a new language, and I'm not a big fan of reading online since I don't think it's anywhere near as entertaining as holding an actual manga in your hand. I know some of them will catch up to the Japanese releases if they don't slow down, but others are releasing after the whole series is already done. Those could stand to go quicker than one volume every 2 to 3 months -_-;

...I'm not a big fan of reading online since I don't think it's anywhere near as entertaining as holding an actual manga in your hand. Oh, thank you for saying that. So I'm not the only one? (For different reasons of course: Reading online bugs the heck out of me. Trying to read small manga text on a glaring computer monitor just increases my sensory problems and I feel totally whacked out when I finish. lol) I agree about the physical component of being able to hold an actual manga book in your hand. It's always nice to be able to hold an item you've spent your hard-earned money on. ^^ And yes, publishers need to pick up the pace. An example I can give is that Kimi ni Todoke vol. 5 was just released by Viz 2 days ago, and the volume after that isn't due out until November. (Although, I shouldn't be complaining about KnT. It took 2 years before the 10th volume of Ghost Hunt got released. But that was because the manga-ka became ill, I believe.) And then we could go into the fact that a lot of really great small-time publishers are starting to close up shop (CMX, Go! Comi) and other companies are laying off employees (Viz). It's disheartening. Go! Comi was publishing Shibariya Komachi which I really wanted to start reading, and CMX was licensing all those old classic shoujo titles. I would've absolutely died if a company finally licensed the Glass Mask manga.

It doesn't help that companies like Tokyo Pop and ADV drops titles like there's no tomorrow...that or obtain so many license that they can't fit the work load into translating them.
It is true that owning an actual manga is better, the only preference I have to reading manga on my laptop is from a webpage. I hate using Preview(OS X) or Comical for reading that stuff. Maybe they should have an app that works with the accelerometer and lay the laptop on it's side to read them lol~
