Well, that and the fact that Ranma was started back in the late 80's as an anime series, so it's older too. BLEACH has that more modern feel to it. Though the length of it begs the question - when will they stop/run out of ideas? -_-;

^ Probably when the show loses steam with its audience, right? Although Pokemon is still going with that huge episode count...lord knows they ran out of ideas after the first season but they're still going! ^^;; Ranma's first season is definitely the best one. I also enjoyed the OAV series a lot. The movies weren't very good, imo. It's hard to compare Bleach and Ranma. Bleach has a much more serious tone, overall. Ranma is big on the comedy angle. I love the OAV series too. Always gotta watch the Xmas episode around the holidays. It's like a tradition. Ditto on the movies, though. The animation was nice but that was it. Oh, and there wasn't enough Ryoga for my liking. He's the real star of Ranma. ;D

Pokemon is better in Japanese - they don't cut bits out, for one thing. As for Ryoga, he's better in the manga. ^^ I really like the way he's always taking a bath in pig form with Akane! ^^ Ranma really hates that! ^_^

Hmm...I take it you don't like Ryoga that much, eh Antony? @ David - So true about Pokemon. I've been trying to watch some raws and while I don't understand everything, I can just tell its 100x better. I hate those god awful puns 4Kids always manages to sneak into the English episodes. Seriously, they make me cringe. -_- And that's what I love about Ryoga's character. He acts all shy but he's actually pretty sneaky! <3 P-chan. ;D

Yes, the dumbed-dwon versions of these shows can't seriously appeal to the same kids, can it? The jokes/stories of the Japanese versions of Pokemon/Digimon and even Card Captor Sakura are better for Japanese children than american/uk/australian kids. It's like they believe we can't understand these things unless they dumb them down terribly.
I did like the OVA versions of Ranma and Akane - especially the christmas ep where Ranma has to sing as a girl. ^^

I love CCS! What is that Cardcaptors nonsense? Blasphemy. Funny how you'd never know they were the same show. Oo;
And what was that girl singing group in Ranma called...DoCo? They had some pretty nice songs. Every hear the English version of that Christmas song? Ugh. @_@

Well, that was the only version I ever got to hear - the english one. I may one day get the DVDs of the original ones, but not until I find them and have the right money...
I only ever got to have the Cardcaptors version of the first DVD - but I was lucky enough to have someone tape a few episodes of the show in Japan for me, so I have a video with them on it...the only problem is that the tape is Super-VHS, which is a very rare VHS system that isn't recognized on over 90% of players....
Lucky that my friend has a player that plays them then! ^^

Lucky indeed. ^^ I really hated the CCS dubbed version; saw it on TV. *shudders at the memory*
I actually thought Ranma 1/2 dubbed was pretty good. I had bought the dubbed and subbed versions on VHS tape for first season back when dvd was still a new media format.

^ Ranma is good dubbed. I prefer it over the subbed version, actually. It's just that one song that bugs the heck out of me...Viz really should've gotten some actresses who could actually sing. And I have no idea what a Super-VHS is. Sounds like something invented during the wild and crazy '80s.

Super-VHS is just a more digital format of Video created by Panasonic for Japanese regions mostly. IT's no longer made (naturally, since DVD is the way to go these days), so the players that accept them are very hard to find.
And as for dub-sub, Tenchi Muyo OVA was always done great in dub, sometimes better than sub. But as for the purist in me, I gotta go for sub first. ^^

So it's like a more primitive version of the DVD? That's pretty neat. And yes, Tenchi had a great dub! Though thinking about it now makes me sad, what with Pioneer/Geneon's demise.

Well, Pioneer still make stuff, so they're not entirely dead. ^^

That's true. They're being kept alive through other companies. And they still make all those electronic gadgets...like speakers, and DVD players. Actually, I think one of my first DVD players was a Pioneer. Haha.
