I recently bought the boxset of Macross - the original series. Watched the lot now, and I was impressed by how good the series is despite the age and the slightly sudden ending (it doesn't show much of an end, leaving you wishing for more). We never get to see these guys (except for Max and Milia in Macross 7) again, and I hope that someday they bring back Hikaru, Misa and Minmay. ^^

Nice buy there David, ahh I could only remember so much of the show. Yeah it's kinda sad unfortunately that nothing was ever found of the crew of the Megaroad-01. I assumed they found what they were looking for but couldn't communicate so far into the galaxy. I'm hoping one of these days Kawamori will thow in Hikaru and Misa's daughter into the next Macross series since it seem reasonable enough to say that with each Macross series coming out, they are always advancing the storyline. It's too bad that I remember Do You Remember Love movie better than the series...Pineapple Salad oh no! I wish they brought up some info about Sharon Apple into Macross Frontier, I guess the entire incident was a cover up and have a short OAV about Ozma and Cathy before Frontier~

Thanks. It was nostalgic in a way. I'd never seen the show in it's original Japanese before, and the extras were a nice touch. The Minmay shower scenes were a big surprise, and something I can understand why they'd take out of the Robotech version! ;D Of course, the original voices were better too! ^_~

Robotech was just odd and this is coming from someone who lived in Canada for most of his life. If they had just dubbed the series into English without splicing 3 different stories into one, they wouldn't have such a huge problem as what is currently going on with Harmony Gold and etc and also the whole two-sided fanbase. One thing I lol'd at were: Macross Protoculture - Male + Female/Zentradi + Meltradi Robotech Protoculture - Energy

And the silly gang-type stuff that happened in either series 2 or 3. I didn't like that storyline. I guess that's what happens when you snap a totally different series to another and try to make it one style! -_-;

Good for you, Andy. Shame I didn't like that show as much as I thought I would...
Just hate the ending, is all. Well, I'll leave it up to you to see what you think. ^^;

Well this thread hasn't seen life in quite sometime. I just got a few new blurays in yesterday though, so lets breathe some life back into this old area as well ^_^ Dusk Maiden of Amnesia and Mysterious Girlfriend X The Princess and the PilotI watched both Dusk Maiden and Mysterious Girlfriend back during their simulcast and both series where two of my favorites for 2012. Dusk Maiden hits just the right balance of comedy, drama, romance, and horror to make for a wonderful ride of emotions in only 12 episodes. I haven't seen the OVA yet, but I know it continues after the ending. Mysterious Girlfriend X is, if you can get past its admittedly strange quirk , a treasure of a highschool romance story with wonderful characters and quite possibly one of the best new female Japanese seiyu in a long time. Ayako Yonutsani's work as Mikoto Urabe is nothing less than perfect for the character and lifts the show up even higher, in my opinion. I haven't watched The Princess and the Pilot yet, but just from reading the description, it sounds like a fun movie.

I haven't watched anime shows again until recently, and I missed the simus. Are Dusk and Mysterious worth getting on blu ray?
I'm actually still mourning over the Aniplex pricing for Sword Art Online. A tad too expensive for my budget.

I'm actually still mourning over the Aniplex pricing for Sword Art Online. A tad too expensive for my budget. I want to cry everytime I buy an Aniplex release. I still buy some of them though because they like to keep some of their really good stuff. I watched both of the simulcast for Dusk and Mysterious. In terms of the shows, they're both very much worth picking up, in my opinion. As for the quality of the Blurays, I'll let you know after I get done watching them this week.

Nice haul, AFB! Looks like you'll be keeping yourself busy watching those blu-rays. I've been following the manga of Dusk Maiden, but haven't had time to check out the anime.

I need to check out the manga for Dusk Maiden. In regards to the anime, it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the summer 2012 season. The show was paced extremely well and the characters and their interactions made for a perfect balance of drama, comedy, and horror elements. I haven't watched my blurays as of yet, so I can't attest to the dub cast performance. The Japanese cast though, was superb. I definitely recommend checking it out when you get the chance.

I just bought the Lovely Complex DVD set. This has to be one of my favorite series ever. I marathoned the entire show the other day, and remembered how much I loved it when I saw it for the first time. I'm so happy it finally got a legit release in the US.
